Long-lasting infection with certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main cause of cervical cancer. By getting HPV vaccination, the risks of cervical cancer can be reduced. The currently available HPV vaccine is Gardasil 9. It prevents infection with nine HPV types.
May be beneficial for adults ages 27 through 45 years.
How effective are HPV vaccines?
HPV vaccine (Gardasil 9) is found to be nearly 100% effective in preventing cervical, vulvar, and vaginal infections and precancers caused by all seven cancer-causing HPV types (16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58).
